Welcome to the 2012-13 school year! The Eastern Local School District has a tradition of excellence and pride, which is reflected in our data. We are proud to say that we have met all 26 indicators on the state report card and the district has been designated as EXCELLENT by the Ohio Department of Education. Three of our buildings – the High School, the Middle School, and Russellville Elementary, are also designated as EXCELLENT and have met all of their indicators.
Our district is very excited about the opportunities in technology that will be available to our students this year with our new Bring Your Own Device Mobile Technology Policy. We will use the first semester as a time to educate our students and staff about the new policy. Teachers will also have the autonomy to implement the policy in their classrooms during this time, with full implementation occurring during the second semester.
Another new initiative at Eastern this year is the development and implementation of a Superintendent’s Parent Advisory Council. This forum will allow parents to have a voice in their child’s education. I invite you to become involved.
Parents and community members are invited to follow us on Facebook and Twitter to receive updated information from the district. We also encourage you to sign up for our eCommunication, a weekly electronic newsletter (see link on the district website). Eastern Alumni are also urged to register with us using the Alumni link (lower left side).
During these tough financial times, our Board of Education will continue to remain fiscally responsible and responsive to the community, while providing quality academic and extra-curricular programs for our students.
We look forward to working with the community to maintain that tradition of pride and excellence. Your input is encouraged and appreciated. Please contact me with any questions, suggestions, and concerns at email@example.com.
